Do not expect a revolution. The new euro resembles in all respects the old one: they will have the same cuts. The same designs and colors will dominate. The only significant difference will be represented by new security features. In short, the European Central Bank Cutting edge wants to confirm the euro as one of the coins harder to counterfeit. The presentation of the new notes was today in Frankfurt and of course they were unveiled by Governor Mario Draghi.

The new notes will come into circulation from next May. At one time it was considered necessary to prepare the population and minimize the inconvenience caused by this change. The new generation will be called Europa series. Among the safety features there is a portrait of Europe – a young and beautiful princess from Greek mythology – present in the watermark and as a hologram. The banknotes are printed on cotton paper which gives the business crisp and firm.

The other security feature revealed so far is the color of the digits: moving the bill the figure changes color. The new banknotes will be introduced gradually starting from the 5 euro ticket introduced after a year cut from the 10 euro. The old and new banknotes will circulate together. It will be announced well in advance of the date on which the first series will cease to be legal tender and of course they will still be exchanged at the central banks of the euro zone.
